For some applications, these wires can be accomplished with this consumable. This stainless steel wire is resistant to corrosion in wet environment. GJ-309L is suitable for deposition of intermediate layer when welding cladding. These wires have high chromium and nickel content and low carbon content. Used to connect low alloy stainless steel heat-resistant chromium steel/cast steel grades to austenitic steel/cast steel grades for welding intermediate layers of low carbon, unstable and stable austenitic metal plates. According to the ferrite parent material, most preheating is unnecessary.
The composition ofwelding wire ER309L is similar to ER309, except that the carbon content is less than 0.03%. This lower carbon content reduces the possibility of intergranular carbide precipitation. This increases the ability to resist intergranular corrosion without the need for stabilizers such as niobium or titanium. However, the strength of this low-carbon alloy may not be as high as that of niobium stabilized alloys or ER309 at elevated temperatures. For coatings on carbon steel or low alloy steel and different joints that have undergone heat treatment,welding wire ER309L is superior to ER309.

1.Keeping the package of the wire in good condition before welding.
2.To avoid welding defects the shield gas should be pure particularly no moisture in it.
3.The surfaces to be welded must be cleaned away from impurities of oil contamination, rust, moisture and so on.
4.The flowrate of the shield gas should be 20L-25L/minute and arc length in welding should be 4mm-6mm.
5.Mechanical properties, crack resistance and appearance of the weld metal are affected by heat input in welding so should pay more attention to it.
6.The welding conditions mentioned above for reference only and it is better to do a welding procedure qualification according to project before put it into formal welding.
